How To Dress Like A Leader

It's all about having the courage to lead and the confidence to walk into a man's room to take charge. As a leader, standing out (as long as you dress appropriately) is a good thing! It takes some time to get used to it, but "fitting in" and "staying in your comfort zone" can undermine your authority.

How To Dress Like A Leader

Dressing like a leader (even if you're not one!) is the best way to achieve success. You need to consider who the top leaders in your industry are and what they wear to work. You know the old adage: dress for the job you want, not the job you have.

Are you a presenter or public relations person for an architectural firm? Then you may want to steer clear of plaid shirts (so you don't look like a construction worker) and try adding a brightly colored bow tie or necktie.

Have courage. Be a leader. Be a real man. Soon, you will finally gain more trust and respect from your peers and everyone else.

Build an Interchangeable Closet
How To Dress Like A Leader

As an adult, building a collection of major clothing items is essential. When it comes to timeless clothing, there are a limited number of viable options available to you. Your choices are often limited by your career, company position, industry and life circumstances.

To understand how to create your own interchangeable closet (in which each piece can be worn with almost everything else), you need to consider your basic needs as a man as well as your personal style, tastes and interests. Combine these two things and you're on to a winner.

In short, you should have.

  • 4 shirts - in different colors and patterns
  • 4 Pants - for different occasions. 2 pairs of casual pants, 1 pair of formal pants and 1 pair of jeans
  • 4 jackets - 2 blazers/suit jackets, 2 outdoor jackets made of different materials
  • 4 pairs of shoes - 2 x formal shoes (brown and black), 1 x sneaker and 1 x boot

Add to this place according to your own taste, but always keep a consistent base closet to maintain a balanced and essentialist closet.

Find the Statement Piece

Once you've taken care of your core closet and your closet is free of junk ...... you can explore and introduce new, personalized items to experiment with.

Remember, every style experiment must be "measured" in some way: how much will it affect the people around you?

  • How much of an impact will it have on the people around you?
  • Will it make you feel great or embarrassed when you walk down the street?
  • Will this new work impress your boss and increase your chances of promotion?

Sometimes we have areas for improvement ourselves. But once we notice them and "fix" them, the results can be surprising.

Personalized pieces are an essential part of any man's closet. Sure, basic pieces are important, but to stand out from the crowd and succeed in life, you have to stand out. Do it wisely and in the right way and who knows what you can achieve.

Buy the Best You Can Afford

  1. Expensive does not guarantee quality

You may be able to afford a $1,000 suit - but your job is to find a quality suit. A solidly constructed suit with a reputable brand is one of the most valuable items a man can own - but you don't have to spend $10,000 to get it.

When it comes to any type of clothing, do your research and evaluate the quality of the brand without looking at the price. There are many great companies that don't charge extra for their quality clothing. You must also research how to pick the right brand of clothing. It must be a brand with a style that complements your image, your career and your personal taste.

  1. Instead of buying cheap, save money

Let's face it. Many of us spend a lot of money on beer, junk food and things we don't need. That's all well and good until you need to buy a necessity that costs a lot of money and you can't afford.

So be honest with yourself about the non-essentials you can actually cut back on (or avoid buying altogether!)

When you start budgeting for better clothing options, you're making a long-term investment. Often, more expensive clothes last longer and look better. Sometimes higher prices don't improve quality (see above), but it's safe to say that a $50 t-shirt will last longer than a $5 t-shirt from Walmart.

As with any good investment, it will eventually pay off in the form of a promotion or higher income.
